My name is Nicolas Poncin, I am 21 years old, I started fencing at the age of 7, and I am now an elite sportsman. I am very proud to represent my country and my region in the four corners of the world.
A look at this discipline: it is a duel with a blade; there are 3 types - épée, foil and sabre. I am an epeeist; the difference lies in the target, since I am allowed to hit everywhere (including head, hands and feet). Fencing is a very demanding sport requiring reflexes, rigour, analysis, self-control and values.
I work hard, every day, travelling the roads of Wallonia, France and Luxembourg to train as much as possible and achieve my goals: to make a name for myself among the best.
I am currently ranked Belgian number 3 in the senior category, with 4 qualifications in European championships and 3 in the world championship, and I have also taken part in the Summer Universiade (Taipei 2017).
A brief overview of my track record:
-8th at the European Junior Championships (2017)
-13th at the Junior World Cup in Bahrain (2016)
-Bronze medallist at the Bahrain Team World Cup (2016)
-16th at the Junior World Cup in Bahrain (2017)
-11th at the Junior World Cup in Luxembourg (2017)
-Best world ranking: 39th in the junior category
-Double bronze medallist at the Belgian Senior Individual Championships (2017 & 2019)
-Champion of Belgium senior team (2018)
I am super happy and proud to be an ambassador for Wallonia and fly the flag!
I'm on Facebook and Instagram if you want to follow my adventures.
