The Prayon group, based in Engis, will supply China with one of the chemical components that will be used to make rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles - a major challenge for China in its fight against pollution. For us, it represents an investment of about €16 million and 16 jobs will be created.
Prayon, a world leader in the phosphates sector, has signed a five-year renewable supply contract with the Chinese company Pulead, one of the sector's giants. To that end, the group will build a new iron phosphate production unit in the Liège region. The agreement concerns the production of 2,500 tons of iron phosphate a year. In China, it will be added to the lithium which makes up the batteries for electric buses. Being a product of great purity, it will increase Prayon's turnover, which was €709 million in 2015.
