Already certified organic, Nature & Progrès and Prix Juste Producteur, the Brunehaut brewery has become the only brewery in the European Union to obtain B Corporation certification. This international recognition certifies that the company has a positive impact on the world, both socially and environmentally. What do all these certified companies have in common? They are not the best IN the world but the best FOR the world.
Founded in 1890 in the small village of Brunehaut near Tournai, the Brunehaut brewery, which brews 6,000 hectolitres of organic beer a year, produces the only official organic Belgian abbey beer (Abbaye de St Martin) and a range of organic and gluten-free beers (Brunehaut).
This label therefore rewards this brewery's investment to benefit humans and nature (solar panels, quality of products that are as local as possible, fair remuneration for farmers, employee well-being, social actions, water consumption reduction programme, recyclable barrels for export, etc.). B Corporation® (B Corp™) certified companies are for-profit companies that use commercial clout to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
There are more than 3,500 B Corp certified companies from over 150 industries in 70 countries, with one common goal: to use business as a force for making a positive impact on the world.
The B Corp assessment process measures a company's performance in five areas: governance, employees, customers, community and environment.
The B Corp community is working to reduce inequality, lower poverty levels, create a healthier environment, build stronger communities and create higher quality, dignified and meaningful jobs. Companies must undergo a rigorous screening process to obtain B Corp certification. They must report on their positive impact if they are to meet the requirements, as well as undergo an audit every three years to maintain their certification. B Corporation certification helps consumers identify companies with a mission and assists investors in making investment choices that are consistent with their values.
