The company Home Eos based in Farciennes has been awarded the global "Solar Impulse Efficient Solutions" label for its sustainable acoustic insulation. Created by the explorer Bertrand Piccard, this label is awarded to a selection of clean and profitable solutions to protect the environment and aims to promote them to heads of state and captains of industry around the world. Only 569 technologies have been awarded the label so far. Great international recognition for this Charleroi-based start-up.
The Solar Impulse Foundation made a commitment at COP 22 to identify and evaluate 1,000 clean solutions that have a positive environmental impact, while being profitable for the client and the inventor. This selection of solutions aims to encourage decision-makers to adopt ambitious environmental policies and regulations that will help bring effective solutions to the market. Solutions are subject to a strict evaluation process. If they meet all the criteria, they are awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label.
"Each time I speak of protecting the environment to heads of state or government officials, they tell me it is too expensive. This label is a strong message to them: solutions exist and represent the biggest market opportunity of our century. An opportunity that cannot to be missed", explained Bertrand Piccard on creating this international label.
Since 2017, Home Eos has been manufacturing acoustic barriers and insulation just a few millimetres thick made of natural and renewable materials. It is these "Stop-Sound" acoustic barriers that have been recognised by the Solar Impulse Foundation. They are distinctive because they are produced with sugar, protein and water instead of the traditional oil.
Fire resistant and high performance (up to -65 decibels), these sustainable noise barriers are used mainly in construction, industrial installations and transportation.
