The Liège inhabitant Laurent Piron and his Alogique company have won First Prize and the Grand Prize in all categories at the Championship of Magic in Canada. Our world champion captivated the jury with his Paper Ball illusion which had already won him the same prizes at the European Championships in 2021. This is the first time that Belgium has won this award.
This world championship, organised by the International Federation of Magic Societies (FISM) was held in Quebec on 30 July. This was where a Walloon from Aubel stood out among the hundred or so candidates from all over the world.
On his little cloud, Laurent Piron wanted to pay tribute to the work of an entire team with his partner and playwright Sylvia Delsupexhe and his director Hugo Van den Plass. The three of them managed to bring a simple piece of paper to life in this illusion entitled "Paper Ball" and transport us back to the simple and magical world of childhood.
This visual act, which plays with the codes of new magic, is an original creation by the Alogique company, co-created by our three companions in 2018. Based in Dalhem in the Province of Liège, the company presents theatrical magic shows to the absolute delight of adults and children alike who leave with stars in their eyes.
