The first temporary exhibit of the Bastogne War Museum « From Texas to Bastogne – Texas Aggies go to War », will close on June 30th, 2016 in Bastogne (Musée en Piconrue). The adventure is just beginning while the exhibit will leave Bastogne to move to the Texas A&M University in the United States. It will be converted into a permanent journey. You still have a couple of weeks to visit the exhibit in Belgium!
James Earl, Joe, James, Turney and William. Five young students of the prestigious Texas A&M University are thrown into the bloody European battlefield to become heroes.
The exhibition From Texas To Bastogne, Texas Aggies Go To War tells the trip of these five Texans. Thanks to them, the visitor discovers the life of an American campus in the interwar years, with its traditions so different from ours; the shock of Pearl Harbor; the recruitment and training; the Normandy landing followed by the slow recapture of a destroyed Europe, up to the forest of the Ardennes, the scenery of the bloodiest battle ever for the American troops.
Their journey takes shape thanks to objects from collections of the university, testimonials, film extracts and archive documents carefully preserved by the families. The war left deep, often painful, traces, enlightened by significantly designed settings.
Not to be missed as an introduction to the visit of the Bastogne War Museum!
