From 24 to 26 March 2015, the town of Aquin in Haiti will be hosting the 10th edition of Destination Aquin – an International festival of traditional dance and music.
This year, WILD, a show for children directed by Anne Thuot (compagnie Fast asbl), has been invited to participate in this new edition of the Aquin Festival. It will be performed on 26 March 2016. The Foundation for Knowledge and Freedom (FOKAL) will also be hosting two performances of the show as part of its participation in the Aquin Festival, in the multipurpose hall of the FOKAL on 29 March 2016 in Port-au -Prince.
WILD was created at the Manège in Mons and was a prize-winner at the Children’s Theatre festival in Huy (Rencontres de Théâtres Jeune Public). The show aims to explore our common denominators, what unites us, whether we come from here or elsewhere, and takes us on a playful and poetic journey to a place where words convey our experiences and life events, as well as our gentleness, as nothing is said or shown but everything is suggested. This makes the Wild creatures a kind of canvas onto which we can all project our own personality and thus start a dialogue with ourselves, respecting our own identity, what remains silent, what lies hidden.
Destination Aquin is a spectacular multidisciplinary cultural event that is unique in Haiti in that it sets out to give a boost to provincial towns. This festival is special in that it promotes exchanges with other countries and other cultures, contributing not only to the development of the town of Aquin, located to the west of Port-au-Prince, but also to a decentralisation of cultural activities in Haiti.
